One of the missions of the Eureka Search & Rescue Association is community outreach. Programs are created to increase public awareness of the Search and Rescue organization and to educate the general public on wilderness safety. Over the years, local SAR agencies from across the country are utilizing a variety of outreach programs to help inform families of different techniques to utilize if they happen to become separated. One of these outreach programs is The Hug-A-Tree program and it has proven to have created a significant decrease in the number of searches for lost children.
